Joe Locke and Kit Connor Start Production on 'Heartstopper' Film for Netflix

Netflix’s ‘Heartstopper’ movie begins filming as series finale with Joe Locke and Kit Connor returning as leads.
Netflix’s Heartstopper has officially started production on its feature film finale, bringing a close to the beloved adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novels. The movie will adapt Oseman’s sixth and final Heartstopper volume, which is set for publication later this year. The news was confirmed in a joint Instagram post from Alice Oseman and production company See-Saw Films: “We’re back!”
Joe Locke and
Kit Connor are both returning to their lead roles as Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, and for the first time, they will also serve as executive producers on the film. Wash Westmoreland will direct, following previous directors Euros Lyn and Andy Newbery from the series.
The film picks up after Season 3, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie gaining more independence at school. The story will examine how the realities of a long-distance relationship affect them, while their friends also face new challenges around love, friendship, and growing up.
Last month, Locke revealed the script was finished with filming soon to be underway. There is no official release date yet, but estimates suggest a possible spring 2026 premiere.
