Aaron Pierre has officially joined Star Wars: Starfighter, the new film in development at Lucasfilm. Pierre, who earned recognition for The Underground Railroad and
M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, will appear in the franchise for the first time.
The project is directed by Shawn Levy from a script by Jonathan Tropper. Ryan Gosling leads the ensemble, which also features
Amy Adams,
Matt Smith,
Mia Goth, Flynn Gray,
Simon Bird,
Jamael Westman and
Daniel Ings. Production began this summer in the United Kingdom, with Lucasfilm releasing a first-look photo that showed Gosling and Gray beside a landspeeder-style vehicle.
Set five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, the film is positioned as the next story on the Star Wars timeline. Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled to open in theaters on May 28, 2027.
