Cierra Ortega Apologizes for Racist Slur After Leaving ‘Love Island USA’

Cierra Ortega addresses her ‘Love Island USA’ exit and apologizes for using a racial slur in a resurfaced old post.
Cierra Ortega has spoken out after her sudden exit from Love Island USA on July 6, following the resurfacing of a past social media post that included a racial slur. Though the show cited “personal reasons” for her departure, fans quickly connected it to the controversy online.
In a detailed Instagram post on July 10, Ortega apologized to the Asian community, writing, “I am deeply, truly, honestly so sorry.” She claimed she was unaware the term she used was offensive until a follower reached out in 2024 to correct her. “I take accountability,” she added, but insisted it was not used with harmful intent.
The backlash reportedly extended to her family, who said ICE was called on them and that they no longer feel safe. Ortega, now facing death threats, asked followers not to “fight hate with hate,” and promised to “move differently” going forward.
