Aubrey Anderson-Emmons Comes Out as Bi with a Throwback 'Modern Family' Clip

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons comes out as bisexual in a Pride Month post, nodding to her iconic ‘Modern Family’ role.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, best known for playing Lily Tucker-Pritchett on Modern Family, came out as bisexual in a Pride Month Instagram post that quickly gained attention online. The 18-year-old actress lip-synced a scene from the hit ABC sitcom where her younger character famously declares, “No I’m not, I’m gay, I’m gay!” in response to Gloria (
Sofía Vergara). She added on-screen text: “people keep joking so much abt me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi),” and captioned the post, “happy pride month to all and to all a goodnight hehehe.”
Anderson-Emmons joined Modern Family at age 4, playing the adopted daughter of Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (
Eric Stonestreet) from season 3 through the show’s final season in 2020. The show received praise for its portrayal of LGBTQ+ family life, including two GLAAD Media Awards.
Beyond acting, Anderson-Emmons is now pursuing music under the name Frances Anderson. She released her debut single, Telephones and Traffic, in May and will drop her next track, Don’t Forget Me,” on June 27. Modern Family is currently available to stream on Hulu.
