Zazie Beetz Joins Apple TV+ Thriller Based on Lars Kepler Novels

Zazie Beetz is taking on a major new role in an upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series based on the bestselling Lars Kepler novels. Beetz will star as Saga Bauer, an FBI agent drawn into the hunt for a dangerous serial killer in a small Pennsylvania town. The character is also the adopted daughter of Jonah Lynn, a former soldier turned detective, played by Liev Schreiber.

The series follows Jonah as he tries to leave behind a violent past, only to face off against Jurek Walter, a cunning and brutal killer portrayed by Stephen Graham. When Jurek targets Jonah’s new life, Saga is pulled into the case, forcing both characters to confront personal and professional limits.

Beetz also joins the show behind the scenes, serving as an executive producer through her production company, Sleepy Poppy. Filming is set to begin in summer 2025 in Pittsburgh, with Tim Van Patten (Boardwalk Empire) directing the first two episodes.

Kepler’s novels have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and are published in 40 languages across 170 territories.
