Will Poulter Names the 5 Directors He’s Desperate to Work With

Will Poulter reveals the five directors he’s eager to work with—and says he’s not above begging to make it happen.
Will Poulter has been acting for nearly 20 years, with roles in The Revenant, Midsommar, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and more. But despite a stacked résumé, he’s still got a wish list. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Poulter revealed a group of directors he’s “desperate” to work with, admitting, “I’m completely shameless… I will beg for roles.”
Topping his list is Sir Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave), followed by
Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up) and
Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here). He also named
Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard) and
Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank) as filmmakers he admires deeply.
Poulter’s honesty stands out in an industry that often values cool detachment. “I’ve got fanboy energy,” he said. “I feel like if I’m a fan of someone’s work, I really want to communicate that.”
As of 2025, none of these collaborations have happened yet—but he’s still trying.
