Aimee Lou Wood got some unexpected advice from her agent: buy new clothes. “I came in and I looked so scruffy,” she told PEOPLE in a recent interview with co-star 
Patrick Schwarzenegger. “She was like, ‘Maybe you should just go and have a shopping spree.’”
The 31-year-old actress, best known for her role in Sex Education, admitted she doesn’t usually splurge on fashion. Instead, her money goes toward quirky home items. “It’s always novelty household things,” she said. “Tiny miniature toy mice that I think are sweet.” Still, she’s open to treating herself: “I’m looking forward to maybe a shopping spree soon, because it is really cool when you can do that.”
Her first big purchase? A MacBook. “I remember that being a moment,” she recalled. But despite her low-key spending, Wood’s generosity stands out. Schwarzenegger revealed she once pulled the classic “I’m going to the bathroom” move to secretly pay for dinner in London.
“I like to pick up the bill and take people out,” Schwarzenegger added, crediting Wood for inspiring him to spend more on experiences than things.
