Tommy Dorfman and Brandon Flynn Had a Secret '13 Reasons Why' Romance

Tommy Dorfman is opening up about a past relationship with her 13 Reasons Why co-star Brandon Flynn in her newly released memoir, Maybe This Will Save Me. Dorfman, who played Ryan Shaver on the Netflix series, writes about a brief but intense romance with Flynn (Justin Foley) that began early in the show’s production.

The connection started during a cast hangout at Dorfman’s house, where she and Flynn stepped outside for a cigarette. “His boyish tipsy charm was intoxicating,” she recalls, adding, “We were up in his bedroom, ripping each other’s clothes off… It was lusty and fun in the most beautiful, magical of ways.”

According to Dorfman, the relationship ended when Flynn expressed he wanted something more serious. She writes that she wasn’t ready for more than “casual fun,” but later felt jealous when Flynn began dating co-star Miles Heizer.

Though the relationship was never public at the time, Dorfman’s memoir offers an honest look back. “Seeing Miles and Brandon so in love sparked an unexpected jealousy in me,” she admits, while also acknowledging her focus remained on work: “I needed to focus on the task at hand: memorizing my lines.”
