The new ‘Return to the Roots’ EP contains 6 tracks and finds Tash Sultana reconnecting with their early creative freedom.

Australian singer-songwriter Tash SultanaTash Sultana has dropped their third EP, Return to the Roots,on May 28, 2025. The six-track project includes Milk & Honey, Hold On, and Ain’t It Kinda Funny featuring Dallas Green (City and Colour), who called Sultana’s studio approach “inspiring.” The EP stands out for its hands-on, DIY production, as Sultana played every instrument and produced the entire record themselves at their Melbourne studio.

This project is positioned as a reset: Sultana says it’s about getting back to the spontaneous, instinctive music-making style that defined their early years, before perfection or commercial goals came into play. The record mixes influences from Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, and reggae, pulling in some psychedelic touches, while the lyrics focus on self-acceptance and the idea that age doesn’t set your creative limits.

Return to the Roots arrives ahead of a 15-date U.S. tour in June, including stops in LA, Chicago, and New York. Sultana’s reputation for live looping and multi-instrumental performances has made them a standout in the indie world, and this EP is another example of keeping things personal and true to their own vision.
