Stormzy Stars in 'Big Man' as Merky Films Makes Official Debut

Stormzy’s Merky Films debuts with ‘Big Man,’ premiering June 18, 2025, on YouTube. Find out how to watch and what’s next for the new company.
Stormzy has officially launched Merky Films, a new film production company aimed at amplifying Black British voices and innovative storytelling. The company’s first release, a short film titled Big Man, premieres on YouTube at 8pm BST on June 18, 2025. The project is a collaboration with Apple and was shot entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro.
Directed by Oscar-winner Aneil Karia (The Long Goodbye, Surge), Big Man stars Stormzy in his first lead acting role as Tenzman, a former rap star in a period of uncertainty. The story follows Tenzman’s unlikely friendship with two boys: Klevis (Klevis Brahja) and Tyrell (Jaydon Eastman), which helps him rediscover his passion for music and life. The film explores themes of gratitude, humor, and reconnecting with your younger self, with Stormzy donning a wig to further separate his character from his public image.
Stormzy describes #Merky Films as a platform for “powerful British stories” and fresh creative work. The company is also developing projects with Netflix, including a drama series, documentaries, and a biopic.
