Steve Lacy Returns With 'Nice Shoes' and Teases Third Album

The Grammy winner is back with ‘Nice Shoes,’ a playful yet sharp R&B single previewing his upcoming album ‘Oh Yeah?.’
Steve Lacy is back with his first solo release in three years. The Grammy-winning singer and guitarist dropped Nice Shoes on August 15, 2025, via RCA Records, marking the start of a new era following Gemini Rights. The track was entirely written and produced by Lacy.
A minimalist lyric video arrived on YouTube the same day, while Apple Music and Spotify spotlighted the single on release playlists. Critics describe the song as playful but meticulous, noting its retro sample nod to Lyn Collins’ Think (About It). For context, Nice Shoes follows Lacy’s Bad Habit, which hit No. 1 in 2022, and his Best Progressive R&B Album Grammy in 2023. The track also serves as the first preview of his upcoming third album, Oh Yeah?, though no release date has been confirmed.
