Sophia Lillis will star in Annie Baker’s new A24 film ‘Ancient History’, with plot details currently undisclosed.

American actress Sophia LillisSophia Lillis has joined the cast of Ancient History, a new film written and directed by Pulitzer-winning playwright Annie Baker, according to Deadline. The movie is backed by A24, the studio behind Lillis’s previous indie work and Baker’s 2023 directorial debut Janet Planet. Lillis first gained attention for her role as Beverly Marsh in the It movies and later starred in Netflix’s I Am Not Okay with This, where she played a teen navigating both trauma and telekinesis. She’s also appeared in Sharp Objects, Uncle Frank, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. Her upcoming projects include HBO’s The Chair Company, Peacock’s All Her Fault with Sarah Snook, and the action film Trap House opposite Dave Bautista.

With Ancient History, Lillis reunites with A24 and steps into another potentially standout role under the direction of one of today’s most respected playwrights.
