Shaboozey made some Montana locals angry. This is what happens when you smoke a ciggie near a haystack.

Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett CollectionShaboozey is facing criticism after posting photos from a shoot set against a picturesque Montana landscape. The issue? Landowner Lexie Kottwitz claims the images were taken on her family’s private property without permission.

In an open letter shared on Facebook, now either deleted or set to private, Kottwitz expressed her shock upon discovering Shaboozey’s unauthorized use of their land via social media.

According to Wide Open Country, she emphasized the sanctity of private property in Montana, describing it as more than just land—it’s a way of life, cherished and protected by generations. “Stewardship and boundaries go hand in hand,” her letter reportedly stated.

While acknowledging that Shaboozey’s actions were likely not malicious, Kottwitz stressed that entering private property without consent is a serious breach. She invited him to enjoy Montana’s vast public lands and build relationships with locals, noting, “A phone call or door knock would have been the right thing to do.” She concluded by urging him to respect Montana’s values moving forward.

Further criticism arose over a photo showing Shaboozey smoking a cigarette near a haystack, a risky move that could spark a fire. “Smoking a cigarette near a haystack is outrageous,” one commenter noted, with another adding, “No one truly from Montana would ever.”
