Shaboozey’s new song will be featured in one of Stephen King’s most chilling stories, The Long Walk, which hits theaters this September.

Rising country star Shaboozey at arrivals for BET Awards 2024 - Part 2, Peacock Theater, Los Angeles, CA, June 30, 2024. Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett CollectionShaboozey is stepping into the film world this fall with new music for the upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk.

He wrote an original track, Took a Walk, which will play over the end credits when the movie hits theaters September 12. The song arrives on digital platforms September 5.

Shaboozey’s connection to the project began when Lionsgate licensed his track Last of My Kind for the trailer. After seeing the film, he was inspired to create something new.

“These characters don’t see much of a future, but they cling to hope — a better life, a better world. That felt familiar,” he said. He co-wrote the track with Stephen J. Wilson, who also added guitar.

“The film feels timeless and soulful, so Stephen’s guitar was the perfect fit,” Shaboozey added.

The movie is based on King’s 1979 novel (written under the Richard Bachman pseudonym) and follows a dystopian contest where boys must walk nonstop at three miles an hour or be killed. The walk ends only when one survives.

Shaboozey is also keeping busy on the road this year, with upcoming festival and arena dates across the U.S. leading into the fall.
