Samara Weaving Learned to Drive After Lying in 'Eenie Meanie' Audition

Samara Weaving admits she learned to drive for Hulu’s Eenie Meanie after lying in her audition about the skill.
Samara Weaving took on more than just a new role in Hulu’s thriller-comedy Eenie Meanie. She also had to learn how to drive. At a Q&A hosted by ScreenRant after a special screening in North Hollywood, Weaving admitted she lied in her audition. “I just fully lied and said, ‘I can absolutely drive. No problem,’” she revealed. After landing the role, she enrolled at Melrose Driving School and later trained with stunt drivers, practicing donuts and controlled slides.
Weaving explained why she connected with her character Edie, a reformed getaway driver. “She’s so tough and funny and gritty. Shawn just wrote such a great character; I fell in love with her on the page.”
Co-star Karl Glusman also shared stories from filming, including an early nude scene that caught the attention of Cleveland locals. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Shawn Simmons. Eenie Meanie is now streaming on Hulu.
