The single arrives fresh Sydney’s orchestral premiere and follows his acclaimed ‘Cats on the Ceiling’ EP.

Australian singer-songwriter Ruel (Ruel Vincent van Dijk)Ruel has just dropped I Can Die Now, his first single from an upcoming album due later in 2024. The track packs a fast-paced pop sound, full of hooks and sharp production, reflecting what Ruel calls “the ecstatic chaos of new love.”

He co-wrote the song with Julian Bunetta (One Direction, Sabrina Carpenter), Ammo (Beyoncé, Britney Spears), and JKash (Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth) — a lineup known for shaping some of today’s biggest pop hits.

I Can Die Now first premiered live during Ruel’s Red Bull Symphonic shows in Sydney this May, giving fans an early listen. The lyrics play with the contrast between the dramatic title and the track’s energetic vibe, while the music video (out today, July 21) leans into the idea of “love-sickness,” with Ruel hallucinating in a hospital setting.

Directed by sweetiepie, who’ve worked with Gracie Abrams and American singer-songwriter and record producer Lizzy McAlpineLizzy McAlpine, the video pushes the theme with surreal, cinematic visuals and will be featured on MTV Live and Times Square billboards.

The release follows Ruel’s Cats on the Ceiling EP and major festival debuts. Now based in Los Angeles and signed with Giant Music / Virgin Music, Ruel is focusing on new music and expanding his international presence.
