Rico Nasty Unleashes 'LETHAL' – Album Review

Rico Nasty
O

Once upon a time, a sugar trap princess decided to make a cute album. But the witch put a LETHAL spell on it.

Rico Nasty breaks all the norms of what an album should sound like. It’s chaotic, bold, yet so cohesively put together that there is really no comparison to any trap-like album out there.

We hear futuristic synths, pop-laced trap beats, and rock-trenched guitar riffs. Nasty completely leaves the listener in awe, like what the hell have I just heard? It slaps hard beyond any genre definition.

The earlier revealed BUTTERFLY KISSES, ON THE LOW, and TEETHSUCKER made most of us think it would be a purely trap album, even though the tracks were drastically different from the general trap scene.

But when you hear SMOKE BREAK, the punk comes out of Rico Nasty and our jaw drops. Bizarrely breaking the pattern of the album, it complements it so well. A unifying force being Nasty’s powerful voice that roars like a Harley Davidson motor.

SMILE provides a grand finale to the album, finishing it on a soft indie note. It’s a really rewarding and soul-touching track. We also have to thank Nasty for not including any lousy intro or outro tunes with no real substance, which is quite prevalent in the trap game to beef up the albums artificially.

All in all, LETHAL is a bright tapestry of artistic expression. It mixes the unmixable and steps into the unknown territories of sound. Rico Nasty, being the main character of it, has done a phenomenal job.
