Owen Cooper, 15, earns Emmy nod for Adolescence, making history with a breakout role and praise from co-stars and creators.
At just 15 years old, Owen Cooper has made Emmy history with his nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his role in Netflix’s Adolescence. His powerful performance as Jamie Miller, a teen accused of killing a classmate, helped anchor one of the year’s most talked-about dramas.
The series, known for its bold one-shot format and emotional weight, received 13 Emmy nominations in total. Cooper’s standout moment came in Episode 3, where he shares a tense, dialogue-driven scene with co-star Erin Doherty. The young actor’s performance has drawn widespread praise, including from the show’s creators and cast.
Stephen Graham, who co-created the show and plays Jamie’s father, said: “I’m just so proud of him… his commitment, his sheer joy for everything he was doing, and that willingness to learn—it was remarkable.”
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Cooper said, “I was in my living room when I found out we got 13 nominations. It’s just crazy.” As for Emmy night? “I don’t care if I win. I’ll just get there, eat nice food, meet a lot of people.”
