Nicholas Alexander Chavez Responds to Being Cut from 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Sequel

Nicholas Alexander Chavez says he’s taking the high road after his scenes were cut from the new ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez has addressed being cut from the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, which premiered July 18, 2025. The Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story star had filmed scenes in Australia with actress
Lola Tung, but neither appeared in the final version. Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson told PEOPLE the footage was meant to open the film but ultimately “didn’t fit” the overall edit, stressing that both actors gave “fantastic” performances.
Chavez told Us Weekly he remembers the shoot fondly, recalling time spent with kangaroos, sunrise hot air balloon rides, and cherry picking with his girlfriend. While his casting was announced in November 2024 alongside Austin Nichols and
Gabbriette—both of whom remained in the film—he’s choosing to focus on future projects.
Asked about returning to the franchise, Chavez said he’s open to it, adding that his priority is “doing good material with people… who believe in me.”
