Mikey Madison Reflects on Change Six Months After Oscar Win

Mikey Madison reflects on fame after her Oscar win, saying she feels a need to withdraw while seeking challenging roles.
Mikey Madison is reflecting on life after her Oscar win. The 26-year-old Anora star, who earned Best Actress earlier this year, spoke with Vogue Italia about how fame has shifted her perspective. “I feel like everything around me has changed, and I think that’s increasing my need to withdraw into myself,” she said. Madison described herself as “extremely introverted” while also admitting she has a “big desire for adventure.”
At home in the Valley, she keeps her statuette alongside a cat, three dogs, and a vinyl collection. She explained that she now feels “aware of how I’m perceived,” adding, “We pretend to be someone we’re not to make others feel comfortable. I think shyness should be considered a form of poetry.”
Looking ahead, Madison will star in Reptilia, a mermaid thriller with Kirsten Dunst. She said she is seeking roles that challenge her: “I need to read a script and be afraid.”
