Maria Bakalova Breathes Life into Pigtails in 'The Bad Guys 2'
Maria Bakalova teases her role in ‘The Bad Guys 2’, a star-studded animated sequel hitting cinemas on August 1, 2025!
It seems like 
Maria Bakalova can’t wait for us to see her in a new voice role! She took to Instagram to share the trailer for The Bad Guys 2, an animated heist comedy based on Aaron Blabey’s book series of the same name.
In the movie, Bakalova lends her voice to Pigtails, a newly introduced character. Joining her are 
Danielle Brooks and 
Natasha Lyonne, who are part of the new additions to the original cast. Returning from the first film are 
Sam Rockwell, 
Marc Maron, 
Craig Robinson, 
Anthony Ramos, 
Awkwafina, 
Zazie Beetz, 
Richard Ayoade, 
Lilly Singh, and 
Alex Borstein.
The Bad Guys 2 follows the beloved squad from the first film as they continue navigating their lives as the Good Guys. The twist? They’re pulled out of retirement by an all-female squad for “one last job.” What happens next—you’ll have to see for yourself.
The idea for the sequel began nearly one month before The Bad Guys premiered. It took another two years before the film was officially announced, and now we finally have a trailer.
Bakalova has been incredibly busy this year, with four movies already released and another coming out in three weeks: Dirty Angels, an action thriller with 
Eva Green and 
Ruby Rose. Her other upcoming projects include O Horizon, a sci-fi comedy-drama with 
David Strathairn and 
Adam Pally, and Mayday, an action-adventure film with 
Ryan Reynolds and 
Kenneth Branagh. She’s also set to lend her voice to Creature Commandos, an animated TV series based on DC Comics.
The Bad Guys 2 premieres in cinemas on August 1, 2025.
