Lollapalooza goes green, powering an entire stage with an eco-friendly battery system.

Lollapalooza 2025’s mainstage will run entirely on a hybrid battery system, powering all lighting, audio, and video. The festival kicks off this weekend (July 31–Aug. 3) in Chicago’s Grant Park with headliners like Tyler, the Creator, American singer-songwriter and actress Olivia RodrigoOlivia Rodrigo, Luke Combs, and more.

Organizers say the battery system will cut fuel use and lower emissions. The project is a collaboration between C3 Presents, Live Nation’s Green Nation, and nonprofit REVERB.

Lollapalooza debuted the system last year, making it the first major U.S. festival to power its mainstage with hybrid batteries. The aim was to show that clean energy can reliably support large-scale events—and it did so without complications.
