Here’s a full breakdown of Little Simz’s new single ‘Young,’ from lyrics to video to where it fits on Lotus.

English-Nigerian rapper (Simbiatu "Simbi" Abisola Abiola Ajikawo)Little Simz has released a new track titled Young, out now as the third single from her upcoming album Lotus, dropping June 6 via AWAL Recordings and Forever Living Originals. The song arrived with a video directed by Dave Meyers, who previously worked on Simz’s Gorilla video.

Young leans into a more playful, stripped-back style, with a punk-inspired, alt-rap sound. It contrasts the heavier tone of previous singles Flood and Free, instead tapping into themes of being broke, carefree, and figuring things out while you’re still young. Simz raps about dodging bills, borrowing cash, and finding moments of fun and love in between.

The song was produced by Miles Clinton James, co-written with Lizzy Walker and Anna Arnell, and appears as track three on Lotus. The video shows Simz in full elderly makeup, causing chaos and flipping expectations—a nod to the song’s contrast between age and attitude without taking itself too seriously.

Lotus features a stacked guest list, including Michael Kiwanuka, Nigerian-British singerObongjayar, Sampha - Double Award winner Independent Music annual awards ceremony take place in the Camden Roundhouse London on October 17th 2024.Sampha, Yussef Dayes attends The Cartier Queen's Cup Polo 2024.
