Kristine Froseth on 'The Buccaneers' Season 2: “The Friendships Blow Up”

Kristine Froseth opens up about season two of The Buccaneers, from family bombshells to fractured friendships.
Kristine Froseth says season two of The Buccaneers is a lot messier—and heavier—than fans might expect. Back as Nan, now the Duchess of Tintagel, Froseth revealed to Tatler she struggled with some of the emotional turns in episode one, especially learning that Nan’s biological mother is actually her “aunt” Nell, played by
Leighton Meester. “There was a big betrayal not that long ago,” Froseth said, referring to Nan discovering her illegitimacy. “Then another bomb drops.”
But the drama doesn’t stop there. Nan might have status now, but Froseth says she’s quickly realizing it doesn’t equal power. “The Dowager is breathing down her neck,” she noted, adding that her character is “just trying to survive” in a world where even being a duchess doesn’t offer real freedom.
Looking ahead, Froseth hints that the group’s dynamic will shift drastically: “I’m curious to see how people react to how the girls interact this season.” Season one centered on female friendship. This time? “Those sort of blow up.”
