Rising hip-hop artist Key Glock shot to the top of the charts just one day after dropping Glockaveli. Here’s what sets this album apart.

Memphis rapper Key Glock has solidified his place in hip-hop with his highly anticipated major-label debut, Glockaveli released under Paper Route Empire.

On May 3, Chart Data reported that Glockaveli reached #1 on US Apple Music Chart - that’s literally the next day after the release.

Born Markeyvius Cathey, he rose to prominence through mixtapes like Glock Season and Glockoma, and with the new 18-track project, he transitions to a broader stage without losing the original energy that defines his music.

This album practically demands movement—resisting it feels impossible. Packed with sharp samples and meticulously built beats, it stands out as a powerhouse release and easily ranks among the best rap albums to drop this month.

The production on Glockaveli features hip-hop heavyweights like Tay Keith, Bandplay, and Sosa 808, delivering deep basslines, sharp hi-hats, and cinematic undertones that complement Glock’s laid-back yet commanding presence.

In his interview with The Breakfast Club, the artist described this album as his most mature project so far. He explained, “Everything is brought to the light. Everything is bolder.”

Lyrically, the album stays true to Glock’s roots, exploring loyalty, street life, success against the odds, and personal resilience.

The title, a deliberate reference to Tupac Shakur’s Makaveli alter ego, reflects Glock’s respect for the late rapper’s impact—not just on hip-hop, but on cultural resistance and raw conviction.
