Country superstar Kane Brown is making his feature film debut alongside
Taylor Lautner in the upcoming romantic comedy The Token Groomsman, as reported by Deadline.
Directed by Natalie Simpkins, the film follows Scott (Lautner), a career-focused guy who gets invited to a fancy destination wedding in Italy—except he can’t even remember who the groom is. While trying to network with the elite, Scott unexpectedly connects with the groom’s sister, Mia, and faces a choice between business and real feelings.
Kane Brown will play Neil, Scott’s loyal best friend and the grounded voice amid the chaos. Director Simpkins described Brown as bringing “a rare mix of vulnerability and magnetism” to the role. The screenplay is co-written by Simpkins, John C. Hall, and Sohale Andrus Mortazavi, based on a story by Hall.
Production is set to start later in 2025, with The Fithian Group planning a 2,500-screen U.S. theatrical release and Radiant Films International handling worldwide sales.
Kane Brown, known for 12 No. 1 country radio singles and his double platinum debut album, is represented by Neon Coast and WME. His fourth album, The High Road, is out now.
