Josh Hutcherson Volunteers at Pasadena Shelter to Support Pet Adoptions

Josh Hutcherson volunteers at Pasadena Humane to support pet adoptions through NBC’s Clear the Shelters campaign.
Josh Hutcherson—aka Peeta from The Hunger Games—spent his Thursday at Pasadena Humane, lending a hand to NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters campaign. The nationwide effort focuses on getting more pets adopted, especially as many shelters are stretched thin.
Hutcherson, who grew up with animals and has two rescue Pit Bulls of his own (Manchi and Driver), didn’t just pose for photos—he hung out with the animals and talked about what adoption has meant to him. “They’re the sweetest dogs in the world,” he said of his pups, both adopted at eight weeks old.
He admitted he usually keeps a low profile and avoids social media, but said this was a cause worth showing up for. “When it’s about helping dogs and cats find homes, I’m in.”
At one point, he was seen cuddling two kittens, Jay and Mitch, saying their purring almost made him want to take a nap.
