Joe Locke has officially wrapped filming for the Heartstopper finale, marking the end of his journey as Charlie Spring in the hit Netflix series. Sharing behind-the-scenes photos with co-star
Kit Connor, Locke posted “Bye Charlie X” on Instagram, thanking fans and the creative team for their support.
Instead of a new season, Heartstopper will conclude with a feature-length film, adapted from Volume 6 of Alice Oseman’s bestselling graphic novels. Directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice) and written by Oseman herself, the finale focuses on Nick and Charlie’s next chapter—navigating long-distance love as Nick heads to university while Charlie grows more independent.
In a chat with The Playlist, Locke explained the format shift: “We realized the only way to get it made this year is if we do a film… It makes it feel more cinematic and gives it the ending it deserves.” The movie is now in post-production.
