Joe Keery Releases 'Potion' as Final Single Before 'The Crux' Drops

Joe Keery drops his new single Potion tomorrow, just ahead of his third studio album The Crux, out April 4, 2025.
American actor and musician Joe Keery is about to drop his third studio album The Crux tomorrow, and to amp things up even more, he’s releasing a third single from the album titled Potion, along with a cool visualizer.
In a conversation with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Keery was asked about the inspiration behind the song. He shared that the idea came to him in Calgary while he was shooting Fargo. He mentioned Fleetwood Mac and Harry Nilsson as influences, and added that the song was completed in just 24 hours with the help of his two engineers, John and Austin.
Keery also mentioned that he recorded the song on an old J-45 Gibson guitar he bought one day in NYC. During the recording process, he learned about Travis picking — a guitar style where your thumb plays a steady beat on the bass strings while your fingers pluck the melody.
Potion is Keery’s third single from The Crux, following Delete Ya in February and Basic Being Basic in January. The Crux will be released on April 4, 2025.
