Jacob Tremblay faces off with Dennis Quaid in the first trailer for his new thriller ‘Sovereign’, out July 11.

Jacob Tremblay is back in a serious new role — and the first trailer for Sovereign just dropped. Directed by Christian Swegal, the thriller follows Tremblay as Joseph Kane, a teenager on the road with his father, played by Nick Offerman. Together, they travel across the U.S. sharing anti-government “Sovereign Citizen” ideas, until they clash with a local police chief, played by Dennis Quaid.

The trailer shows glimpses of this dangerous journey, filmed in Arkansas in 2023, and explores themes like personal freedom and authority. It’s a very different kind of role for Tremblay, who first broke out in Room, voiced Luca in Pixar’s Luca, and starred alongside Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson in the family drama Wonder.

Sovereign will hit theaters and also be available to rent or buy on July 11. The movie was acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment and features a production team that includes Nick Moceri, Tom Ortenberg, and Jessica Rose.
