Isabela Merced confirms Hawkgirl’s return in Peacemaker Season 2, connecting the series directly to Superman.
Isabela Merced is officially part of 
James Gunn’s growing DC Universe, debuting as Hawkgirl in Superman (in theaters July 11) and returning in Peacemaker Season 2, premiering August 21 on HBO Max. In Superman, Merced plays Kendra Saunders’ Hawkgirl, a member of the “Justice Gang”—a group of superheroes funded by Maxwell Lord (
Sean Gunn) that also includes Mr. Terrific (
Edi Gathegi) and Green Lantern Guy Gardner (
Nathan Fillion).
Speaking to ComicBook, Merced confirmed that Superman “definitely ties into the story” of Peacemaker, where Hawkgirl teams up again with Lord and Gardner. Trailers show the trio questioning Peacemaker (
John Cena), possibly hinting at team changes.
Merced also praised Gunn’s loyalty to his actors, saying, “I love that he has that loyalty, and I hope I’m part of that gang now.” Though she jokes she’s “more of a Batman girl,” she signed on for Superman “truly” for Gunn—suggesting this Hawk-era is just getting started.
