Harris Dickinson’s Debut 'Urchin' Gets October Release After Cannes Wins

Harris Dickinson’s Cannes-winning debut ‘Urchin’ hits theaters Oct. 10, starring Frank Dillane as a man fighting for redemption.
Harris Dickinson, best known for roles in Babygirl and the upcoming
Sam Mendes Beatles project where he plays
John Lennon, is stepping behind the camera for the first time. His feature directorial debut, Urchin, hits theaters on October 10, 2025, via new indie distributor 1-2 Special.
The film, written by Dickinson, stars Frank Dillane as Mike, a homeless addict in London trying to rebuild his life after prison. Supporting cast members include
Megan Northam,
Amr Waked, Shonagh Marie, and Karyna Khymchuk.
Urchin premiered in May at the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize and earned Dillane Best Actor honors. Critics praised the film’s focus on one man’s struggle, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it “a one-person show.”
Dickinson began the script six years ago and says he’s already got another project lined up—if someone gives him the green light.
