Erin Moriarty reveals her Graves’ disease diagnosis, urging fans to take their health seriously and trust their instincts.
Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight on The Boys, has shared that she was recently diagnosed with Graves’ disease — an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid. The 30-year-old actor posted an update on Instagram, saying she started treatment right after her diagnosis and is already feeling a big difference.
“Within 24 hours of beginning treatment, I felt the light coming back on,” she wrote.
Graves’ disease can show up in different ways, including weight loss, anxiety, shaky hands, and fatigue. Erin opened up about how tough things got before she knew what was wrong. In a text to her mom, she said: “I feel so s— and removed from who I am, I can’t live like this forever.”
But after starting treatment, she messaged her dad: “Damn, this is how I’m supposed to feel? I’ve been missing out!” She also reminded followers not to ignore signs something’s off: “Don’t ‘suck it up’ and transcend suffering; you deserve to be comfy. S—’s hard enough as is.”
