Emily Rudd Boards 'Whalefall' as Production Begins in Los Angeles

Emily Rudd joins the cast of ‘Whalefall,’ a survival drama from 20th Century Studios, now filming in Los Angeles.
Emily Rudd has joined the cast of Whalefall, a new film adaptation from 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment, Deadline reports. The movie is directed by Brian Duffield, who is co-writing the script with the book’s author, Daniel Kraus. Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles next week.
Whalefall is based on Kraus’ novel and centers on a scuba diver searching for his father’s remains, only to be swallowed by a giant sperm whale. With just an hour of oxygen, the story follows his efforts to escape.
Austin Abrams and
Josh Brolin are set to star, with
Elisabeth Shue,
John Ortiz, and
Jane Levy also joining the ensemble.
Rudd is known for her roles in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, which reached No. 1 in 84 countries, and the Fear Street trilogy. The film’s production team includes Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum for Imagine Entertainment.
