Find out what made Ella Langley’s Weren’t for the Wind a No. 1 country hit, from fan support to emotional storytelling and Gold certification.

Ella Langley just notched her first solo No. 1 at country radio as Weren’t for the Wind topped the Mediabase Country chart in July 2025. The milestone marks a major leap for Langley, who already earned a previous No. 1 with her Riley Green duet You Look Like You Love Me in 2024.

Co-written with close friend Joybeth Taylor and Johnny Clawson, and produced by Will Bundy, the single stands out for its memories of writing on her back porch and inspired by Wyoming’s wide-open spaces.

Langley celebrated on Instagram, thanking her team and fans for making the track a streaming and radio hit. The song has also gone RIAA Gold, and its music video tells a story of choosing dreams over a dead-end relationship. With this chart-topping single, a fast-selling tour, and multiple 2025 ACM nominations, Langley is quickly cementing her place as a new voice in country music.
