Ella Balinska faces isolation and mystery in the first trailer for ‘The Occupant’, out in theaters and VOD August 8.

The first full trailer for The Occupant, a new survival thriller starring Ella Balinska, has just dropped. Directed by Hugo Keijzer in his feature debut, the film follows Abby, a geologist who crashes in the remote Georgian wilderness while returning from a dangerous mining job. Stranded with only a walkie-talkie, she begins communicating with a mysterious voice named John (Rob Delaney), who may not be real.

Balinska’s character took the risky job to fund her sister’s cancer treatment, but now she’s stuck in icy terrain with thinning oxygen and growing doubts about her own reality. The trailer is full of intense psychological tension, eerie sci-fi elements, and Balinska facing both nature and her mind.

The Occupant premiered at the 2025 SXSW London Film Festival and will hit select U.S. theaters and VOD on August 8.
