Ella Anderson Joins Juliette Lewis in 'Jesus Land' Movie Based on True Story

Ella Anderson stars as Julia in ‘Jesus Land’, a film adaptation of Julia Scheeres’ memoir directed by Saila Kariat.
Ella Anderson is set to play the lead role of Julia in Jesus Land, the upcoming film adaptation of Julia Scheeres’ bestselling memoir. The project is written and directed by Saila Kariat and focuses on Julia and her adopted brother David as they experience a strict Christian Fundamentalist upbringing in 1980s Indiana.
When they rebel against their parents, Julia and David are sent to Escuela Caribe, a reform school in the Dominican Republic known for its harsh environment. The film is based on both the memoir and real accounts from former students of the school.
According to Deadline, Anderson will appear as 16-year-old Julia, acting alongside Juliette Lewis, who plays Ruth, Julia’s mother. The cast also includes

Kristian Bruun,
Kelly Sullivan, and many more.
Recently, Ella Anderson starred in Suncoast, a drama with Woody Harrelson,
Laura Linney, and
Nico Parker. She is also set to appear in Song Sung Blue, a musical drama with
Hugh Jackman and
Kate Hudson, scheduled for release by Focus Features.
