Dylan O’Brien faces family turmoil in ‘Anniversary’, as a tense trailer teases secrets ahead of its Oct 29 release.

Dylan O’Brien is stepping into darker territory with Anniversary, a new thriller from director Jan Komasa. The trailer, released on August 19, 2025, sets up a tense family gathering that quickly unravels. O’Brien plays Josh, who brings his girlfriend Liz (English actress Phoebe DynevorPhoebe Dynevor) home to meet his parents, Ellen (Diane Lane) and Paul (Kyle Chandler), during their 25th wedding anniversary.

Things don’t stay celebratory for long. Ellen recognizes Liz from her past as a student and raises concerns about her son’s new relationship. In one scene, she warns Paul that Liz holds extreme views and may not be in Josh’s life by accident. The trailer also shows Josh clashing with his mother, accusing her of trying to bend his girlfriend to her will.

The footage leans into a muted, uneasy atmosphere and suggests that Liz’s arrival will fracture more than just the evening’s dinner table. Anniversary hits theaters October 29, 2025.
