Dominic McLaughlin Revealed in First Photo as Harry Potter in HBO’s 2027 Series

Dominic McLaughlin debuts as Harry Potter in HBO’s upcoming series, set for a 2027 release with a full new cast.
Dominic McLaughlin has been unveiled as the new Harry Potter in HBO’s upcoming television adaptation of
J.K. Rowling’s bestselling book series. In a first-look image released by HBO, McLaughlin appears in character, wearing Harry’s iconic round glasses and Hogwarts school uniform. The series, currently in production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, is scheduled to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
Joining McLaughlin are Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and
Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The main trio was selected from over 30,000 actors who auditioned during a casting call in 2024. The show will adapt each of the seven books into individual seasons.
The cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore,
Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall,
Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and
Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Bel Powley and
Daniel Rigby will play Petunia and Vernon Dursley.
Other cast members include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch,
Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander,
Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley,
