James Gunn shares new ‘Superman’ set photo of David Corenswet and Milly Alcock, teasing her return as Supergirl in the DCU.
David Corenswet and
Milly Alcock have appeared together in a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Superman, shared by DC Studios co-CEO
James Gunn on X. Corenswet, suited up as the Man of Steel, stands alongside Alcock, who plays Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl, wearing a casual hoodie.
Alcock’s version of Supergirl first appeared in the post-credits scene of Superman, where she returns to Earth to reclaim Krypto the Superdog from her cousin. Gunn has confirmed this is the same Supergirl who will headline Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, directed by Craig Gillespie and slated for release in June 2026.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Gunn described her as “a total mess,” with a far more difficult upbringing than Superman’s “wonderful” life with loving parents. Alcock, best known for House of the Dragon, joins the DCU during its Gods and Monsters chapter, with her solo film inspired by Tom King’s acclaimed comic run.
