Damson Idris Roasts Brad Pitt as ‘Old Man’ in New ‘F1’ Movie

Damson Idris holds his own with Brad Pitt in ‘F1’, even calling him “old man” in a bold ad-lib that made the final cut.
Damson Idris is teaming up with
Brad Pitt in the upcoming F1 movie, and the two actors are clearly having a good time both on and off screen. In a red carpet interview, Pitt praised Idris as a “great sparring partner” and said working with him felt like “charming, I want to punch him out”—a joking nod to Idris’ strong performance and overall energy on set.
The film allowed room for ad-libs, and Idris wasn’t afraid to take his shots. One unscripted moment had Idris calling Pitt “old man,” a bold line that stuck out in the final cut. Pitt took it in stride, saying the vibe on set was “gloves off, anything goes, best line wins.”
When asked who was the faster driver during filming, Pitt didn’t hesitate—he clearly thinks he’s got the edge. Even Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz chimed in, joking there were “a lot of crashes in the movie,” hinting at the crazy behind-the-scenes driving.
Pitt also believes F1 will help grow the sport’s fanbase in the U.S., where it’s still gaining momentum. As for Idris, Pitt teased that a movie star career is definitely in the cards—“you just see it in his face.”
F1 hits theaters on June 27, 2025.
