Daisy Edgar-Jones to Play Elinor Dashwood in 'Sense and Sensibility'

Daisy Edgar-Jones will lead a new ‘Sense and Sensibility’ film, directed by Georgia Oakley for Focus Features.

Daisy Edgar-Jones attends the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards at The Royal Festival Hall in LondonDaisy Edgar-Jones will play Elinor Dashwood in a new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, directed by Georgia Oakley. The film is being produced by Focus Features and Working Title Films, the same team behind earlier versions of Pride & Prejudice and Emma.

Edgar-Jones became well-known after starring in Normal People, and has since appeared in Where the Crawdads Sing and Twisters. She also produced and starred in On Swift Horses, alongside Australian actor Jacob ElordiJacob Elordi and Will Poulter attends the premiere ofŐOn Swift HorsesŐ World Premiere during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival at Princess Wales Theatre on September 7, 2024Will Poulter.

This adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel follows the Dashwood sisters and their widowed mother as they adjust to a more difficult life after losing their father. The script is by author Diana Reid, who aims to give the story a new energy.

With Edgar-Jones as the lead and Oakley directing, the project is now in pre-production.
