The story follows a group of high school students who discover a cursed Aztec Death Whistle. Keen leads the cast, which includes Sophie Nélisse, Nick Frost, Canadian actor Percy Hynes WhitePercy Hynes White, and Michelle Fairley. The film is directed by Corin Hardy, known for The Hallow and The Nun. In an earlier interview with Deadline, Hardy said the project combines elements of classic horror with teen-centered storytelling.

Whistle is based on a short story by Owen Egerton, who also wrote the screenplay. It’s being produced by IFC and Shudder and is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2026. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
