D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai is accelerating his rise to stardom. His latest movie Warfare wrapped filming in June, and the news just broke that he was cast in Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, a crime thriller based on Charlie Huston’s book of the same name. The Canadian actor of Oji-Cree descent is set to play Dale, Hank Thompson’s best friend, Deadline reports.
Caught Stealing follows Hank Thompson, played by Austin Butler, a former baseball pro who becomes entwined with the mob in NYC in the '90s—all because of a cat… and a fat stash of cash. During this descent into absolute chaos, Hank fights for his life; he’s pushed to his limits and forced to do whatever it takes to survive. The Caught Stealing novel is the first book of a trilogy about Hank Thompson, and it sets the tone for what’s to come.
Joining Austin Butler and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai are Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Will Brill, Bad Bunny, Griffin Dunne, Vincent D’Onofrio, Action Bronson, and George Abud. Given Darren Aronofsky’s track record and a cast like that, it’s safe to assume that the movie will be a critical success. Let’s hope we’re not wrong!
