Cooper Koch Gets Emmy Nod for 'Monsters'—And a Call From Lyle Menendez

Cooper Koch earned an Emmy nom for ‘Monsters’—and got a surprise call from Lyle Menendez congratulating him.
Cooper Koch is having a standout year. The 29-year-old actor was recently nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role as Erik Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. The Netflix limited series, part of Ryan Murphy’s true-crime anthology, reignited interest in the infamous 1989 Menendez case—and brought new attention to Koch’s rising career.
In a recent appearance on The Awardist podcast, Koch revealed a surprising moment following his nomination: a personal call from Lyle Menendez himself. “I spoke to Lyle today,” Koch shared. “He called to send his congrats and was very, very sweet.” Koch also added that Lyle joked about being jealous that he got to attend Wimbledon over the weekend.
Reflecting on the project, Koch said it felt like “the end of an era” and hoped that his milestone might align with a real-life shift: “Hopefully that will also go with the brothers getting released by the end of the summer.”
