Even the crowd couldn’t save Young by singing along. Here’s what happened at the Capital’s Summertime Ball.

Lola Young performing at Scala on March 05, 2024 in London, EnglandLola Young undeniably has one of the most powerful voices in today’s pop music scene. But when technical issues arise, even the best talent can’t survive the waves of misfortune.

During her now-legendary Messy performance, her in-ear monitor cut out, leaving the singer unable to hear her band well enough to stay in sync.

After several attempts to perform without the much-needed tech, Lola asked fans to sing along.

Still unable to hear, she told the crowd, “It’s like they’re doing it on purpose,” before letting the song end and walking off stage.

Fans took to social media to support the artist, praising her vocals and calling out the show organizers for poor tech management. After all, in-ear monitors are basic, essential gear—and should be properly checked before any show begins.

But there is one bright thing to look forward to as Lola Young is releasing her new single Not Like That Anymore this week.
