The third season of ‘The Last of Us’ is set to follow Abby’s journey, marking a big change from previous seasons centered on Ellie’s perspective.

HBO’s The Last of Us wrapped up its second season with a major shift that’s already stirring up conversation among fans. While the first season and much of season two kept the focus squarely on Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, the finale introduced a dramatic change—spotlighting Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever, and moving the timeline back to Day 1 of Ellie’s Seattle journey, but from Abby’s perspective.

For viewers familiar with The Last of Us Part II video game, this pivot was expected. Bella Ramsey recently confirmed that their role will be significantly reduced in Season 3, with Abby’s storyline set to take center stage. Ramsey told Variety that they expect to appear “not a bunch,” signaling limited screen time for Ellie moving forward.

This change mirrors the video game’s structure, where players shift from Ellie to Abby, but it also opens the door for fresh storytelling. Showrunner Craig Mazin has promised more exploration of supporting factions like the WLF and Seraphites, and teased the return of familiar faces - possibly through flashbacks.
