Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming Prime Video movie, Christmas in Lagos. Directed by Jadesola Osiberu, the film also stars Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold.
The romantic comedy, filmed in Lagos, follows Fiyin (played by Aladese) as she figures out her feelings for her best friend Elo (Obiago). Ayra’s jump into acting is part of a wider trend of musicians trying out Nollywood. The movie promises a great mix of music too, with songs from legends like Sunny Ade and current stars like Flavour and D’banj.
