Ayo Edebiri will make her Broadway debut in ‘Proof’ next spring, starring with Don Cheadle in the play’s first revival.

US actress Ayo Edebiri attends the world premiere of Pixar's "Inside Out 2" at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California on June 10, 2024.Ayo Edebiri is heading to Broadway. The Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner, best known as Sydney in The Bear, will make her stage debut next spring in the first New York revival of David Auburn’s Proof. She will star alongside Don Cheadle, who is also making his Broadway debut. Directed by Hamilton’s Thomas Kail, the play begins previews on March 31, 2026, with opening night set for April 16 at a Shubert Theatre still to be announced.

Proof follows the daughter of a brilliant but troubled mathematician as she struggles with his legacy and fights to prove the authorship of a groundbreaking discovery found in his papers. The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2001 and three Tony Awards, including Best Play.

Edebiri has recently been seen in Inside Out 2, Bottoms, and Abbott Elementary. Next spring, her Bear co-stars Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will also appear on Broadway in Dog Day Afternoon.
