Austin Butler Too Beautiful to Be Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho'? Casting Director Thinks So

Austin Butler is rumored for ‘American Psycho’, but insiders say he may be better suited for Paul Allen, not Bateman.
The rumors surrounding who will play the next Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s reimagining of American Psycho continue to swirl, with several potential candidates already being discussed for the iconic role in the American cult classic.
Most recently, Austin Butler was rumored to take on the role that Christian Bale made famous. However, according to the team behind the film, things might be heading in a different direction.
Casting director Kerry Barden, who worked on the original film, doesn’t see Butler as the ideal choice for Bateman — and the reason? His beauty. Barden suggests that Butler might be better suited for the role of Paul Allen (originally played by Jared Leto), who was specifically cast in the 2000 film because of his striking looks.
Butler isn’t the only actor rumored to take on the infamous role. Back in October, Euphoria star Jacob Elordi was also reportedly being considered for Bateman. However, none of these rumors have been confirmed, leaving the lead role still up for grabs.
Who will ultimately step into Bateman’s shoes remains a mystery — so stay tuned for more updates.
